One Direction: This Is Us arrives in theaters on Aug. 30.

In advance of its July 3 opening, the third trailer for Despicable Me 2 jumped to the second spot from No. 10 the previous week, recording 4.3 million views.

Trailer views for Despicable 2 correlate strongly with early box-office tracking for the movie, which is predicted to take in about $110 million over the long holiday weekend.
By contrast, no trailer for Lone Ranger, the week's other big release, cracked the top 10 and the movie is tracking softly, with an expected opening in the $65 million to $70 million range.
Analysts have speculated on why the movie seems to be failing to connect with audiences.

Fast & Furious 6's first trailer was the third-most-viewed preview of the week, jumping from the seventh spot the week prior.

The Paul Walker/Vin Diesel car heist movie's promo garnered 3 million more views, lifting its lifetime total to 115 million views since debuting online Feb. 5.

The movie, which has grossed $682 million worldwide to date, rolls out in China and Japan later this month.

Man of Steel also saw a jump in advance of a wider international rollout, recording 1.9 million views to rise from the eighth-most-watched trailer to fifth place on the list.
Gwyneth Paltrow's upcoming movie Thanks for Sharing made a surprise appearance in the top 10, netting 1.1 million views in the trailer's debut week.
Interest in the trailer was spurred by images of Paltrow stripping down to lingerie, revealing her enviable body, which received wide media coverage.

Jimmy Choo Debuts Short Film Starring Nicole Kidman

Hot on the heels of the May announcement that Nicole Kidman would appear in Jimmy Choo’s Autumn/Winter 2013 ad campaign, the London-based accessory designer unveiled a short film featuring the Oscar-winning actress. The video, shot by photographer Mikael Jansson, shows the actress channeling a sophisticated yet smoldering modern Hitchcock heroine. Kidman works a short trench coat, tousled bob and smoky eye along with her must-have accessories -- the brand’s pointy-toe Talan heels, a skinny Bordeaux-hued Ciggy clutch, a slouchy oversized black leather Blare biker bag with silver chain accents and glittering cat-eye sunglasses (all available to pre-order at jimmychoo.com).

“Nicole’s character portrays the multi-faceted qualities of the Jimmy Choo woman for this season -- strong, sexy with a beguiling sense of mystery,” Jimmy Choo creative director Sandra Choi said in a statement.

Added Kidman: “I really enjoyed being able to play a role that was strong, sexy and in control. I got into a relationship with the photographer and Mikael is very intuitive. He knows what I am thinking and feeling and is able to translate it through the camera.”

The print campaign, which coincides with the short film, will appear in print beginning in August. Kidman is set to take on another Hitchcock heroine when she returns to the big screen as Grace Kelly in The Weinstein Company’s Grace of Monaco, which hits theaters in December.

Lulu & Co Debuts Resort

Lulu & Co. Resort 2014

Lulu & Co’s first Resort collection was birthed simply because the stockists asked for it. “It’s great to be wanted rather than to have to push,” says creative director Lulu Kennedy. The collection had all the cheeky, grungy, playful Lulu signatures (think satin bomber jackets, quirky floral-print joggers, and Lurex slogan sweaters). But there was also some weight to it. A soignée silk Dupioni dress with a fifties silhouette and delicate floral appliqué detail, as well as a sharp brocade top-and-trouser set, were more Babe Paley than Courtney Love. “I listened closely to the stockists for this collection—especially about what makes a collection viable commercially,” said Kennedy. Could these steps toward maturity have something to do with The Guardian pegging Kennedy as one of its “fantasy picks” for the Mulberry job? (Creative director Emma Hill left earlier this month.) Kennedy laughs it off, “I mean, the mere mention of it is wildly flattering, but I think I would be in the dark-horse category.”

Still, if anyone fits the bill of Mulberry’s self-described “kooky and bonkers” personality, it would be Kennedy. Consider her slogan sweatshirts, one of which read, “Never Again, Just Tonight. OK.” Or her tube dresses and skirts printed with, “I’m here, I’m now, I’m ready.” And, as the founder of the young-designer initiative Fashion East, Kennedy knows a little something about wrangling new talent. “The graphics came from a really cool girl called Beverley who I found on Tumblr. My eyes are always wide open for talent, and her work was all so beyond. The collaboration was done in a couple of e-mails—sweet and simple, just how I like it.”

Rumors aside, Kennedy says that her foray into Resort served as an invaluable learning tool. “With Fashion East, I just knew a lot about shows and the press,” she explains. “Lulu & Co is giving me an entire 360 degree experience. I am a student in sales, manufacturing, marketing, everything. It’s the best kind of on-the-job training you can imagine.”
