Lindsay Lohan Appears Nude in The Canyons Trailer

So nice to see you again, Lindsay -- all of you! In the intriguing, moody, just-released trailer for her new erotic thriller The Canyons, Lindsay Lohan, 27, appears in various states of undress opposite porn star James Deen, and seems to play a version of herself -- a troubled actress.

"Okay tell me something," she says to a friend in the clip. "Do you really like movies. Really, really like movies? When was the last time you went to see a movie in the theater?… I don’t know, you know, I guess, maybe it's just not my thing anymore."

PHOTOS: Lindsay's many film roles

Sexually charged scenes unfold in the rest of the clip — a male actor wearing only a bikini bottom struts his stuff; Lohan, wearing nothing in bed, covers up her breasts with her arms.

"I guess I like to keep parts of my life private," Lohan, who in real life is infamous for her inability to stay out of the spotlight, says at one point in the trailer.

PHOTOS: How Lindsay's face has changed

In an essay for Film Comment, director Paul Schrader wrote that he's blurring the lines between reality and fiction in The Canyons. He also likened Lohan to Marilyn Monroe: "[They both] exist in the space between actors and celebrities, people whose professional and personal performances are more or less indistinguishable. Entertainers understand the distinction."

Other similarities? "Tardiness, unpredictability, tantrums, absences, neediness, psychodrama -- yes, all that, but something more, that thing that keeps you watching someone on screen, that thing you can't take your eyes off of, that magic, that mystery," he wrote.

The Vin Diesel-Paul Walker car epic recorded 2.6 million views for its preview. The movie, which opened in the U.S. on May 24 and has grossed $695 million worldwide, is continuing to roll out to new foreign territories.

No. 3 finisher Man of Steel recorded 1.3 million views, half as much as the one ahead of it on the list.

The next six slots are all head by fall releases, except for World War Z in the No. 7 spot.

STORY: 'Despicable Me 2': 5 Things to Know About the Minions

Interest in Thor: The Dark World (32 million lifetime views) and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (36 million lifetime) remains strong.

Pacific Rim, the monster movie from Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, which opens July 12, was the only new film to enter the list, coming it at No. 10.

The movie has been tracking softly, raising questions about its box office potential. The uptick in trailer views might indicate a stronger-than-expected opening for the movie.

First 'Oldboy' Trailer: History, Hotel Rooms and Hammers to the Head

For those looking for a revenge flick that's exciting, confusing and more than a little violent -- a hammer in the head, Josh Brolin? -- the first trailer for Spike Lee's upcoming remake of the 2003 South Korean thriller Oldboy might be exactly what you're looking for.

Oldboy started life as a manga series running in Weekly Manga Action by Garon Tsuchiya and Nobukai Minegishi that ran from 1996 to 1998, before being adapted by director Park Chan-Wook in 2003 and, now, Lee for this new American version of the story.

PHOTOS: 26 of Summer's Most Anticipated Movies: 'Man of Steel,' 'Wolverine,' 'The Lone Ranger'

Each version of the story features the same basic plot. A man is locked away for years without reason, and once released, goes looking for explanations and those responsible. But what's odd is that each successive version of the story adds additional years to the length of imprisonment. In the original manga, Shinichi Goto is trapped for a decade. In the first film adaptation, Oh Dae-su is locked away for 15 years, and as the new trailer for the American edition reveals, Brolin's Joe Doucett is kept in solitary confinement for twenty years.

(As is always the case in such movies, Brolin ages suspiciously well in those twenty years; by the time he's released with his new haircut, he almost looks younger than he did in 1993.)

The American version of the movie has been in the works for some time; in 2008, it was Will Smith and Steven Spielberg attached to the project, although both dropped out a year later, effectively killing the project until Lee became involved in 2011. Mark Protosevich, who provided scripts for I Am Legend and The Cell, has remained attached as screenwriter throughout.

The film also stars also stars Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley. Oldboy will be released October 25 via FilmDistrict.

Chris Evans Rides Post-Apocalyptic Train in 'Snowpiercer' Trailer

A plan to stop global warming has gone very, very wrong in Snowpiercer, which has debuted a new trailer.

The post-apocalyptic sci-fi film from South Korean director Bong Joon-ho is set in a future in which a failed experiment to put an end to global warming has resulted in an ice age, kiling off most of humanity. The only survivers live on Snowpiercer -- a train that circumnavigates the globe and is powered by a perpetual-motion engine.

A class system has developed, with the poor living in the train's tale and the rich living in the front. One man (Chris Evans) has had enough, and seeks to reach the front of the train to benefit everyone on it. Among those seeking to stop him is the strangely dressed Mason (Tilda Swinton).

It's the first English-language film for Bong, known for directing the Korean monster blockbuster The Host (2006).

The film lso stars Jamie Bell, Alison Pill, John Hurt, Octavia Spencer, and Ed Harris. Frequent Bong colaborator Song Kang-ho plays Namgoong Minsu, a mysterious securty specialist Evans' character seeks out for help.

'Lovelace' Trailer: Amanda Seyfried Channels a Porn Legend

Audiences curious to check out Lovelace, the big-screen depiction of the meteoric rise of adult film star Linda Lovelace, can now watch the biopic's first trailer.

The film stars Amanda Seyfried as the 19-year-old from Florida, born Linda Boreman, who became a crossover sensation after her talents were showcased in Deep Throat, the movie credited with launching the "porn chic" craze of the early 1970s.

Sundance Review: Lovelace

Tracing the unlikely starlet's journey from naive ingenue to the poster girl for the sexually freewheeling, pre-AIDS era -- followed by later efforts to expose her own victimization and reclaim her life -- Lovelace also stars Peter Sarsgaard as Chuck Traynor, Linda's abusive svengali of a boyfriend, plus Hank Azaria and Bobby Cannavale as the film's sleazy director and producer.

Watch closely for cameos from a gussied-down Sharon Stone as Linda's mother and James Franco as fan-for-life, Hugh Hefner. Lovelace, which The Hollywood Reporter's Todd McCarthy called "surprisingly good on several fronts" in his Sundance review, opens August 9.

UPDATE: A rep for the movie has requested that THR remove what they say is the incorrect trailer. The official trailer will be released on July 10.

PHOTOS: 26 of Summer's Most Anticipated Movies: 'Man of Steel,' 'Wolverine,' 'The Lone Ranger'

One Direction: This Is Us arrives in theaters on Aug. 30.

In advance of its July 3 opening, the third trailer for Despicable Me 2 jumped to the second spot from No. 10 the previous week, recording 4.3 million views.

Trailer views for Despicable 2 correlate strongly with early box-office tracking for the movie, which is predicted to take in about $110 million over the long holiday weekend.
By contrast, no trailer for Lone Ranger, the week's other big release, cracked the top 10 and the movie is tracking softly, with an expected opening in the $65 million to $70 million range.
Analysts have speculated on why the movie seems to be failing to connect with audiences.

Fast & Furious 6's first trailer was the third-most-viewed preview of the week, jumping from the seventh spot the week prior.

The Paul Walker/Vin Diesel car heist movie's promo garnered 3 million more views, lifting its lifetime total to 115 million views since debuting online Feb. 5.

The movie, which has grossed $682 million worldwide to date, rolls out in China and Japan later this month.

Man of Steel also saw a jump in advance of a wider international rollout, recording 1.9 million views to rise from the eighth-most-watched trailer to fifth place on the list.
Gwyneth Paltrow's upcoming movie Thanks for Sharing made a surprise appearance in the top 10, netting 1.1 million views in the trailer's debut week.
Interest in the trailer was spurred by images of Paltrow stripping down to lingerie, revealing her enviable body, which received wide media coverage.

Prince Avalanche

The first official trailer for David Gordon Green's indie-comedy surfaced on Monday and showcases more antics and banter from the films mismatched protagonists.

While Magnolia Pictures previously released a short teaser for the film, the new trailer gives viewers a deeper look at the story.

Adapted from the 2011 Icelandic film Either Way by Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurdsson, Prince Avalanche is an atypical buddy comedy that follows the exploits two highway road workers, Alvin (Paul Rudd) and Lance (Emile Hirsch), who spend their summer in solitude, repainting the traffic lines on a Texan backcountry road that was ravaged by a 1988 wildfire.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, where it was acquired by Magnolia, and also screened at SXSW and the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival -- where Green was awarded the Silver Bear for Best Director.

The Hollywood Reporter’s   David Rooney,   in his Sundance film review, praised Green’s minimalist film. “Perhaps Green’s chief accomplishment in this odd little gem of a movie is that he coaxes that mutual compassion out of the characters without having to put it into words,” he writes.
